What are the admissions requirements for an online teaching degree program?

Admissions requirements for online education programs typically include the submission of a completed online application and transcripts from other institutions. However, there may be additional materials required depending on the academic program you choose.

How long does it take to earn a teaching degree online?

Time to completion for your online education degree will vary based on a number of factors including the type of academic program you choose, your individual progress, and any credits you transfer. Can I become a teacher with an online education degree?

Walden’s BS in Elementary Education program prepares you to seek initial teacher licensure in elementary education through a curriculum aligned with licensure requirements. Students interested in pursuing teaching licensure should be sure to review and understand the specific licensure requirements in their state prior to enrolling in an online teaching degree program.

Are Walden University and the Riley College of Education accredited?

Yes, both the university and the college are accredited. 

Walden University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (www.hlcommission.org), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Human Sciences is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for a period of seven years, from April 2019 through June 2026. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. CAEP is the only recognized national accreditor for educator preparation, promoting excellence in educator preparation through quality assurance and continuous improvement. The Riley College of Education and Human Sciences earned CAEP accreditation by meeting rigorous national standards and demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement.
