How do I apply?

Applying to Walden is easy. To start your application, you’ll need to fill in some basic information to create an account, and then you can begin your online application. Your Enrollment Specialist will be in touch to answer any questions you may have and can assist you in submitting your transcripts and any other required materials.

Do I need to take the GRE?

No. GRE scores are not part of Walden’s admissions requirements.

Are there any program prerequisites?

It depends on your selected program and prior academic experience. Your Enrollment Specialist can help you understand your program requirements.

Can I apply with unofficial transcripts?

You can submit unofficial transcripts with your online application if all required information is included on the document. However, once you are admitted to Walden, official transcripts are required for transfer of credit to be awarded and financial aid to be processed, if eligible.

Can I be admitted even if I havn't been in school in a long time?

It depends on the requirements for your program of interest and prior academic experience. Your Enrollment Specialist will work with you to explore program options and explain the requirements for admission.

Can Walden help me obtain my official transcripts?

Yes, Walden can assist with obtaining your official transcripts if your school accepts third-party requests. Reach out to your Enrollment Specialist for more information, or download the transcript release form.

How do I get a transfer of credit evaluation?

Your Enrollment Specialist can start the process for a preliminary evaluation of transfer of credit. You will need to provide your transcripts, and your Enrollment Specialist can also help you explore other potential sources of academic credit, such as military training or professional experience or credentials. How long is the admissions process at Walden?

The time needed to complete the application process depends on the requirements for your program. Enrollment Specialists can help set expectations for how long it might take. Also keep in mind that requesting official transcripts as soon as possible is an important step in keeping your application on track.

Is there a cost to apply to Walden University?

Is there a minimum GPA required for admission?

Each of our programs has specific admissions eligibility criteria. Reach out to your Enrollment Specialist to discuss the GPA requirement for your program of interest.

What's the difference between official and unofficial transcripts?

An unofficial transcript is one that has been previously opened by you or anyone else before being sent to Walden’s Admissions Office; an unofficial transcript is used for review only during the application and admissions process. An official transcript is sent directly to Walden from the registrar’s office of the institution you are requesting the transcript from.

You can apply to Walden using unofficial transcripts if all required information is included (name of institution previously attended, student name, grades earned, credits earned, degree earned, course names/numbers, and dates of attendance). But keep in mind, you will need your official transcripts to ensure transfer of credit is applied and financial aid is processed, if applicable.

When should I request my official transcripts from the schools I’ve attended?

We encourage applicants to request their official transcripts as soon as they decide to apply to Walden. An early request for official transcripts can help smooth the admissions process and ensure transfer of credit is correctly awarded, if eligible, and financial aid, if applicable, is processed without delay.
