Background

Dr. Coker has worked as a drug prevention/intervention counselor with children and adolescents in a K–12 setting as well as a counselor for at-risk and adjudicated youth in outpatient and group home settings. Dr. Coker also worked in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of problems, including depression, anxiety, eating issues, and self-harming behavior. She has worked as an assistant and associate professor in CACREP-accredited counseling programs as well as a core faculty member and administrator in online CACREP-accredited counseling programs. Dr. Coker serves as a CACREP board member and site team reviewer and is also an editorial board member for the Journal of Counseling & Development. She has presented at numerous national conferences, including the American Counseling Association and Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, and has been published in several professional journals. She is the assistant dean for the School of Counseling.
