Whether it’s creating a global impact or making a difference in your local community, the road to positive social change begins with a good education.
If you’re passionate about helping others and considering going back to school, it’s important to find an institution that’s as dedicated to making a difference as you are. It’s also important to find one that offers the flexibility you need to pursue a degree.
Busy professionals who want to use their education to change the world often seek out online colleges and universities to meet their needs. Convenience, excellence, and a commitment to social change all come together online at Walden University, an accredited university with a proud history of giving graduates the tools to change the world, one community at a time.
A University Dedicated to Making a Difference: Online and Around the World
Here are just some of the things the Walden community is doing to change the world and make a difference:
- Global Days of Service
From raising funds to educate underprivileged children in Uganda to providing dental care for young orphans in Costa Rica, our annual Global Days of Service provide an opportunity for the Walden community—faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as their friends and family—to donate their time and expertise to make a difference, at home and around the world.
- Walden Service Network
Not every online university is brimming with people who want to change the world. That’s why Walden offers a unique—and extensive—volunteer database for its students, alumni, faculty, and staff to find ways to make a difference in their communities. The Walden Service Network helps volunteers find local opportunities, recruit others for community service, and record volunteer hours, enabling the Walden community to put ideals into action by helping others.
- Scholars of Change
Walden celebrates students making a difference around the world and in their communities with its Scholars of Change video contest. Contestants enter their personal video stories—examples range from creating free mental health support for at-risk youth to employing the homeless at a thriving coffee shop—about their interest in helping others through their education. Winners of the annual video contest receive monetary awards as well as Walden contributions to nonprofit organizations of their choice.
With inspiring academic programs and an innovative, globally conscious curriculum, Walden is a unique accredited online university that gives students the power to make a difference and change the world.
