If you’re ready to take the next step toward an engaging and fulfilling elementary education career, Walden University’s master’s in education degree program may be exactly what you need to get started. In Walden’s newest offering, a graduate student can earn their master’s degree in education one to three courses at a time, in short, intensive sessions as part of the MSEd One-Credit track, which has an elementary education specialization.
Available only to new, incoming Walden MSEd degree students, this program track includes a nonlicensure specialization in Elementary Education that focuses on the use of emerging technologies, current research, and data-driven practices to inform teachers in instructing students in STEM, mathematics, and literacy.
How does the One-Credit track work? Each class in Walden’s MSEd One-Credit track lasts four weeks. Each semester is composed of four 4-week sessions. Master’s in education students may opt to take one, two, or three courses in each short session.
Coursework in the MSEd One-Credit track is 100% online, giving you the flexibility to earn your degree at a pace and intensity that suits your life. You can choose from three options:
- A 12-month program, where you take 10 courses per semester over three semesters
- A 16-month program, where you take eight courses each semester over four semesters
- A 20-month program lasting five semesters, with a required six courses each semester
The streamlined One-credit track MSEd candidates to complete all coursework without the additional burden and expense of buying textbooks and other materials. All class resources are available within the classroom interface of each online course.
In this new MSEd track, students work through 30 one-credit courses including core, specialization, and elective courses. Half of the coursework consists of core courses, which focus on teaching strategies such as incorporating technology in curricula and creating enriching learning experiences. The specialization courses delve further into teaching specific subject areas and addressing student learning needs in reading, literacy, mathematics, and STEM fields. The final nine courses explore elective subjects like teaching students with varying language backgrounds, digital fluency, ethics, and developing resilient learners.
With such a focused and expedited schedule, Walden’s online master’s in education students quickly explore and build their understanding of topics across education and teaching, readying them to make an immediate impact in elementary school classrooms across the country.
