In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

In our globalized business environment, good management and analysis are increasingly vital. While a bachelor’s-level business degree or management degree can help you acquire some of the skills you need to succeed, many companies want leaders with in-depth knowledge and advanced skills. That’s why the career outlook for those with a Master of Business Administration is so strong.
No matter an industry’s product or service, it needs leaders who understand how business works and how to manage people and make good decisions. Because of this, people who hold a Master of Business Administration are in demand. Some of the top industry sectors hiring those with MBAs:1
Earning a business administration master’s can prepare you for a variety of careers and leadership positions. The most common titles held by professionals with an MBA degree include:
While individual businesses have their own cycles of upturn and downturn, business as a whole always has new opportunities for growth—particularly now that it is conducted on a global scale. These business opportunities often translate into job opportunities for those with an MBA degree. For example, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for marketing managers is expected to increase by 7% from 2019 to 2029, faster than the national average for all occupations.2
A master’s in business administration can give you advanced skills and an exceptional level of knowledge. And many businesses are willing to pay well for that, particularly at the management level. For instance, the median annual wage for sales managers was $132,290 in May 2020.3
You know that earning a Master of Business Administration can help you advance your career. But that doesn’t mean you’re willing to take time off from your current job to complete a business administration degree. Fortunately, many of the best business schools and top MBA programs now offer online learning.
What are the advantages of earning your MBA online? For one, an online MBA program allows you to complete your master’s from home, meaning you don’t have to move anywhere or even drive to night classes. For another, you can attend your online MBA classes at whatever time of day works best for you. It’s a level of flexibility rarely offered at campus-based universities—and it’s one of the top reasons so many working adults choose online graduate degree programs for their continuing education.
An MBA degree can open up a lot of opportunities. Thanks to online education, those opportunities can be yours.
