Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

More and more professionals are exploring online certificate programs—and with good reason. Graduate certificates don’t just boost your resume; they boost your bottom line. According to The Washington Post, those who earn graduate certificates—including online graduate certificates—can earn up to 25% more than those without them.1
Designed for working professionals who hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, a graduate certificate is a set of courses—typically between three and five—in a career-specific field of study. Some online graduate certificate programs can be completed in as little as six months.
Online graduate certificate programs offer many benefits. They can be a great way to advance your current career, refresh skills, or explore a new professional career. With courses available day or night, online graduate certificate programs offer the convenience and flexibility working professionals need. You’ll work at your own pace, in your own space.
Online certificate courses are streamlined to provide in-demand skills you can use immediately. Online certificate programs allow you to explore a new professional path, refresh your skills, or gain more credibility within your organization in a shorter amount of time than a degree program.
Since online certificate programs require just a few classes, they cost significantly less than traditional graduate degree programs.
Yes. For many professionals, that’s one of the major draws of an online graduate certificate. You can branch out into new, exciting fields of study, regardless of what degree or degrees you already hold.
With undergraduate, graduate, post-master’s, and post-doctoral online certificate programs in ten different fields, Walden University offers certificate programs designed to take careers to the next level.
