Remembering Walden University Co-Founder Rita Turner

Rita and Bernie Turner

It is with great sadness we share the news that Walden University co-founder Rita Turner passed away this weekend.

Rita was deeply passionate about the power of higher education to create social change. Her vision and tireless work helped transform Walden from a radical idea to a regionally accredited university and created the foundation for the global community of scholar-practitioners we are today.

We know many of you had the good fortune to meet Rita and her husband, Bernie, at residencies and commencements, which they loved to attend. You can learn more about the Turners and their incredible impact in Walden magazine, "A Dream 48 Years Young."

The university has been in close contact with the Turner family, and we wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to them. Please keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time.
