Minneapolis—January 30, 2019—Walden University’s online MS in Project Management program was reaffirmed in January by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Center (GAC) for Project Management Education Programs. PMI GAC is the world’s leading specialized accrediting body for project management and related degree programs.
PMI GAC accreditation affirms that Walden’s graduate-level project management curriculum meets rigorous quality standards to help prepare students to advance in the field. The initial accreditation and regular reaffirmation process assess a program’s objectives and outcomes, faculty and student evaluations, on-campus and online resources and proof of continuous improvements in the area of project management.
“PMI GAC’s reaffirmation of our accreditation is further recognition of the quality and rigor of our MS in Project Management program,” said Dr. Marilyn Powell, vice provost of the College of Management and Technology. “We are proud of how our online project management program connects a diverse group of working professionals across the country with experienced faculty and their peers who want to advance in a wide range of organizations.”
Accreditation from PMI GAC has several benefits for Walden students. The coursework is aligned with the globally recognized standard for managing projects in today's marketplace, helps students prepare for the certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam and can make graduates become more marketable to employers who recognize the value of PMI GAC accreditation.
As a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), Walden abides by PMI-established quality assurance criteria. Each project management course offered at Walden is worth 45 professional development units toward initial and renewal PMP® certification.
