Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

Minneapolis—January 31, 2012—Walden University announced today that its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program now is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), which awarded accreditation to the university’s BS in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and PhD in Management programs in May 2011.
“With this announcement, all four of the largest programs in our School of Management are now ACBSP-accredited. This accreditation is a reflection of our continuing efforts to provide our students with a superior educational experience and reaffirms our commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and scholarship,” said Dr. William C. Schulz III, associate dean of Walden’s School of Management.
The ACBSP, established in 1988, is a leading specialized accreditation association that identifies and supports excellence in business education for associate, baccalaureate and graduate degree programs. Its standards are modeled on those of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which is used by businesses, government and other organizations to continuously improve and recognize excellence. In 2001, ACBSP was recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). ACBSP accreditation ensures that Walden’s programs and support services meet rigorous, nationally recognized standards that can help prepare students to compete and succeed in the global marketplace.
“When applying for promotions and jobs, human resources and the hiring managers usually take into consideration, among other factors, your grade point average, university attended, and if the university is accredited by a recognized accreditation council,” said Nelson L. Mellitz, a Walden DBA student from Cherry Hill, N.J. “The Walden DBA, which is now accredited by ACBSP, has been a wonderful asset to help me meet my daily work requirements. The courses provide information that is directly and immediately applicable to successfully accomplishing my consulting and teaching jobs.”
Walden’s School of Management offers a comprehensive range of degree programs online at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.
