In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Minneapolis—April 13, 2010—Walden University , which for 40 years has supported working professionals in achieving their academic goals and effecting positive social change, has selected the first recipients of its Project Working Mom 2010 full-tuition scholarships. Walden, with an enrollment of more than 75 percent female students, is participating in the Project Working Mom scholarship program as part of its commitment to help working adults transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so they can make a greater impact in their professions and their communities.
The five working parents selected to pursue their degrees at Walden are:
“A PhD in Public Policy and Administration opens up a whole new and exciting world for me. With this degree I can live a lifelong dream of becoming a social advocate for change,” said scholarship recipient Carmen Cummings. “Walden University is a school with a reputation of excellence and I am looking forward to beginning my scholastic endeavors there.”
Working mothers and fathers interested in applying for Project Working Mom 2010 scholarships must complete a short application at www.projectworkingmom.com and write a brief essay about why online education is an ideal choice for them. The next application deadlines are April 27 and Sept. 30.
Walden is one of eight accredited online schools participating in this year’s Project Working Mom program. In total, nearly $5 million in tuition assistance will be given through up to 285 scholarships. Walden has already awarded 14 full-tuition scholarships through its involvement in previous Project Working Mom programs.
