Minneapolis—July 25, 2009—Walden University celebrated the graduation of more than 4,300 students at its 42nd commencement ceremony, held today at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Walden graduates represented all 50 states and 22 countries.
Lilly Ledbetter, whose legal battle against pay discrimination led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, the first bill signed into law by President Barack Obama, gave the commencement address. The commencement ceremony and address can be viewed via webcast at www.WaldenU.edu.
“We are proud to welcome our newest Walden graduates as they join our community of more than 31,000 alumni dedicated to lifelong learning, professional excellence and positive social change,” said Jonathan Kaplan, president of Walden. “The inspiring words of Lilly Ledbetter, who personifies the mission of Walden, will help guide them as they use their Walden degrees to make a difference in their communities and professions.”
