Minneapolis—October 8, 2008—Walden University will host The Walden University Presidential Youth Debate between Senators John McCain and Barack Obama. Airing online on Monday, Oct. 20, at noon Eastern time, the debate will enable young Americans to ask questions that the two major presidential candidates will answer. The event can be viewed at www.debate.WaldenU.edu and is free and open to the public.
Participants nationwide between the ages of 13 and 35 submitted questions that both presidential candidates will answer at the debate via pre-recorded video. Debate moderators selected the top questions, which were then posted online so all young Americans could vote on the final questions. Those 14 questions, along with videotaped answers from McCain and Obama, will air online during The Walden University Presidential Youth Debate.
“This presidential campaign has excited and engaged young people more than any in decades. And Walden University is thrilled and honored to host this year’s presidential youth debate, as a part of a broader campaign to increase civic awareness and social responsibility among Americans of all ages,” said Jonathan A. Kaplan, president of Walden University.
The Presidential Youth Debate was founded to focus presidential candidates on issues important to America’s youth, and every major presidential candidate has participated in the Presidential Youth Debate since 1996.
