Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

Minneapolis—December 18, 2007—Walden University, one of the largest online providers of graduate management degrees, will offer a four-year bachelor’s degree program in business designed for working adults. Adult learners will have the opportunity to move forward in their careers and on the path to lifelong learning through Walden’s BS in Business Administration program.
The bachelor’s program is specifically designed for motivated adults with career experience. With courses in Ethical Leadership and in Social Responsibility, the BS in Business Administration program is designed to put students on the path to making important contributions to their organizations and communities, a hallmark of Walden’s mission of preparing effective agents of social change.
“In keeping with the vision of Walden University, our undergraduate business administration program will provide students with a strong foundation for meaningful careers in multiple disciplines. In addition, Walden undergraduate students will be not only encouraged, but prepared to pursue lifelong learning through graduate work in aligned fields of study,” said Jonathan A. Kaplan, JD, president of Walden University.
The Walden BS in Business Administration program blends academic theory with application and broadens the students’ perspective in three key areas vitally important in today’s business environment: 1) social awareness, responsibility and civic engagement; 2) cross-cultural competence; and 3) evidence-based decision-making in an information-rich world. As a member of the Laureate International Universities network, Walden will provide undergraduate students with unique opportunities to apply global perspectives and international resources to the academic disciplines included in the curriculum.
Concentrations are available in finance, human resource management, information systems, management, and marketing, and there is also a general/self-designed option. The curriculum is taught by practitioners in the field, with both academic credentials and real-world business experience. The program also prepares students for Walden’s graduate degree programs. BS in Business Administration alumni who return to Walden’s School of Management can earn their MBA from one of the 10-largest online graduate programs in business by enrollment, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report and Financial Times.
Walden University, an accredited online institution, ensures that its students have what they need to succeed in their studies, including access to academic advisors, tutors and university librarians. The university’s award-winning Student Support Team is available to address questions about learning online.
National forecasts point to continued growth in occupations requiring bachelor’s degrees as an entry point for jobs in many fields in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, and projections show continued growth for those jobs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for bachelor’s-prepared individuals is expected to increase by 2.2 million, or 14.4 percent, by 2014.
