In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Minneapolis—September 27, 2006—Walden University, an accredited online institution, will put the university’s mission of effecting social change into action on Saturday, Sept. 30, during its National Day of Service. Alumni, faculty, administration and staff will lead community service projects across the country that will make a positive impact in their cities and neighborhoods.
“Walden University, with a mission of promoting positive social change, has been dedicated for over 35 years to the education of leaders who are change agents in their professions and communities. On this first-ever National Day of Service, we will become an army of on-the-ground social change agents working to have a direct impact in our communities,” said Paula E. Peinovich, PhD, president and provost of Walden University.
National Day of Service community involvement activities will include
Baltimore, Maryland – Jones Falls Trail cleanup. Laureate Education, Inc. and Walden University will have staff and administration clearing debris, planting trees and helping to beautify this urban trail used by Baltimore walkers and bikers.
Minneapolis, Minnesota – Serving community meals. Walden faculty, staff and administration will volunteer at People Serving People, an organization that provides housing, daily meals, education, and social and life-skill programs to all Minneapolis residents in need.
Los Angeles, California – Ballona Wetlands restoration. Walden alumni, staff and administration will assist with removing non-native plants in the Ballona Wetlands to aid in the restoration of this unique coastal environment.
Detroit, Michigan – Technology/computer overview to 20–25 underserved teenagers. Dr. Belinda Moses, who earned a PhD in Education from Walden, will lead a team of alumni who will share tips on how to prepare for college or vocational careers.
Savannah, Georgia – Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. Dr. Altomese Brown, who earned a PhD in Education from Walden, will lead a team of alumni volunteering for daily household chores at a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
