Fireside Chat with Dr. Galen Duncan

Walden University President Dr. Ward Ulmer spoke with Kings Academy Vice President Dr. Galen Duncan about the COVID-19 pandemic and importance of making positive social change a part of everyday life.

Dr. Duncan, a 2007 Walden PhD in Health Psychology graduate and retired United States Army Reserves officer, has spent nearly 20 years working with NBA and NFL players on personal challenges and off-field career opportunities. In his current role with the Kings Academy and as VP of professional development for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, he is responsible for implementing a developmental, player-centric curriculum to help athletes mature into well-rounded professionals and become impactful contributors in the community.

Dr. Duncan discusses his role in helping Kings players stand at the forefront of major social issues, especially in light of recent protests. He emphasizes how people have a responsibility to enact social change and talks about how his Walden degree program enabled him to do so. Dr. Duncan also discusses COVID-19 anxiety and how it has affected his career and the NBA.
