Dr. Andrea Lindell, Walden University's vice provost of the College of Health Sciences, sat down with Dr. Ernest Grant, the 36th president of the American Nurses Association, to discuss the profession of nursing.
Dr. Grant has more than 30 years of nursing experience and is an internationally recognized burn-care and fire-safety expert. In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing, where he works with undergraduate and graduate nursing students in the classroom and clinical settings.
With the nursing industry changing at a rapid pace, Dr. Grant talks about the critical need for nurses to participate in policy discussions within their healthcare organizations and in their communities. He also highlights his passion for the field, the shortage of nurses and nurse educators, and how diversity and inclusion is critical to the future of nursing.
