HOW MY DEGREES HELPED ME ADVANCE MY CAREER: Earning my master’s and now my PhD from Walden opened many doors because people see I have a strong background from a credible school. The combination of having a Ph.D. and understanding the health communications process led to my current position. The FDA knew I could contribute.

HOW MY DEGREES HELP ME MAKE A LARGER IMPACT: I always had an interest in community involvement and health promotion. I lived with my grandmother and saw firsthand how diabetes and other health conditions affect African Americans. My Walden degrees made me more aware of epidemiology, environmental health, and health communications. Now I use my knowledge of health disparities and outreach skills to communicate the risks of drugs and devices to the public. I make sure information is communicated as accurately and quickly as possible to keep people safe.
