A January 2012 message from the president of Walden University.
This is an important and exciting year for Walden as we go through the self-study process that is such an essential element of our institution’s continuous improvement as well as our regional accreditation process. We conduct this self-study as part of our reaffirmation of accreditation process with The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Our self-study has engaged and energized our university community in examining our mission and values, and has given us a valuable opportunity to showcase the quality of our programs, students, faculty, staff, and mission of effecting positive social change.
As part of this process, we are exploring how we are putting our mission into action, creating a quality and engaging educational experience, and preparing for the university’s future. This blueprint for the future is particularly exciting because it sets the direction for new and innovative ways that we can better serve our students and graduates, and for our mission to have an even greater impact on the communities we all serve.
I hope you will continue to stay involved and engaged with Walden, because it is your service, as well as the stories of that service—like those in this magazine—that helps us showcase our strengths and truly bring our mission of social change to life.
Sincerely,
Jonathan A. Kaplan
President
