Authored “The Relationship Between Instructional Delivery and Academic Motivation of Included Elementary Students with Special Needs,” which appeared in the National Forum of Educational Administration and Supervision Journal. Kass is currently writing a children’s book that integrates literature and mathematics.

Writes a blog called “Educational Technology Guy.” The high school English teacher is an advisor for Technology & Learning Magazine, and has been published in NEA Today Magazine.

Dr. James Lehmann ’07
Doctor of Education (EdD)
Serves as president and CEO of the Foundation for Center for Research of Whales, a nonprofit organization in Ecuador that conducts environmental research and provides environmental education. In 2009, the Foundation for Center for Research of Whales worked with more than 700 students in 21 schools.

Dr. Fred Nance, Jr. ’09
PhD in Human Services
Serves as president and CEO of C.L.I.C.K. Services, a not-for-profit business working to empower and enhance the lives of the culturally disadvantaged and disenfranchised. Nance is currently working with the Corporation for Supportive Housing and the Human Resources Development Institute, Inc. to develop more than 50 permanent supportive housing units for the severely mentally ill in Illinois.

Jeannette Bryant ’09
Master of Public Health (MPH)
Authored the book How Far Can You Go for Love? Bryant is the CEO of Kids Be Aware!, a nonprofit organization that creates children’s books that aim to raise awareness of chronic and infectious diseases.

Dr. Sandra Kuntz ’04
PhD in Health Services
Selected for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Nurse Faculty Scholars program (2009–2012). Kuntz recently authored two papers on methyl mercury research that appeared in Environmental Research and the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing.

Dr. Brian Grizzell ’09
Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management)
Appointed to the review board for the 2010 Joint Conference of the Academic Business World International Conference and the International Conference on Learning and Administration in Higher Education. Grizzell is an assistant professor of business administration at TUI University in Cypress, Calif., and an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz.

Dr. Mike Haydock ’09
Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management)
Accepted a position with IBM as vice president and partner of advanced customer analytics and optimization. Haydock will be involved with IBM’s “Smarter Planet” initiative, which is using advanced mathematics to improve customer relationships.

Dr. Emmanuel Onyekwere ’09
Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management)
Had his 2009 doctoral dissertation, Privatization as an Instrument of Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria: Just Learning from Latin America’s Experience, selected by VDM Publishing House for publication.

Dr. Terri Bittner ’06
Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management)
Teaches in the School of Management. Bittner also teaches at the Roy Cloud School in Redwood City, Calif., where she started an honors program for advanced math students in 2005. The honors program was recently awarded San Mateo County’s Kent Award for excellence in education.

Dr. Allen J. White ’91
PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (now PhD in Management)
Received the John F. Kennedy Jr. Community Service award from the Hyannis (Mass.) Area Chamber of Commerce for his volunteer service in the community, which includes housing for veterans, initiatives on homelessness, and raising funds for Red Cross disaster relief.

Appointed chief executive officer, secretary, and treasurer of Dynamic Alert Ltd., a company that provides personalized security services and security products. The company, based in Palm Springs, Calif., recently announced a letter of intent to acquire a 2 million acre property in the Brazilian gold belt.

Appointed director of critical care services at Central Vermont Medical Center.

Sharon Druce ’07
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Wrote two chapters on organizational preparation and leadership in Disaster Nursing: A Handbook for Practice. The book was named the 2009 Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing.

Dr. Erica King ’09
PhD in Psychology
Works as the director of Little Hands Therapy, LLC, based in Avondale, Ariz. Her future plans include expanding her free Internet-based stress management program to include working and stay-at-home moms and businesses in the West Valley that are interested in easily improving their overall health and well-being.

Dr. Wilfredo Nieves ’04
PhD in Psychology
Hired by Webster University in St. Petersburg, Fla., to be its statewide counseling coordinator. Nieves is a qualified Florida state supervisor for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling, and also serves as a psychologist for the federal government’s Disaster
Medical Assistance Team.

Dr. Leslie Capehart ’00
PhD in Psychology
Serves as vice president of Missions Frontier, a nonprofit organization that focuses on leadership and economic development in Guatemala. Capehart has worked with the indigenous Mayan population in Chichicastenango, Guatemala since 2003.

Wrote Malia & Teacup Awesome African Adventure and Malia & Teacup Out on a Limb. These self-esteem books for young readers have been nominated for the 2010 Sunshine State Young Readers Award.

Dr. Lydia Apori-Nkansah ’08
PhD in Public Policy and Administration
Teaches in the Graduate School of Governance at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. She recently authored two articles in the Legon Journal of International Affairs and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Journal of Leadership, Management, and Administration. In 2009, Apori-Nkansah presented papers at seminars in Ghana organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.

Serves as vice president and program sponsor of a methadone and detoxification clinic in Los Angeles that provides primary and urgent care services to underserved members of the community.
