In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Willette Jones currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Walden University, Richard W. Riley College of Education and Human Sciences, teaching in the Education Specialist and Master’s of Education and Leadership Principal Licensure Program. Additionally, served as a virtual supervisor in Walden’s Bachelor of Science Early Education program and as a Postdoctoral Fellowship Coach in Walden’s Postdoctoral Fellowship for Teaching and Research Program.
Since 1989, Dr. Jones served as a special education teacher, elementary school principal, adjunct instructor, and has held several roles in professional development and leadership in the Philadelphia School District.
Dr. Jones holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Temple University, a Master’s in Education from Antioch University, and a Doctorate, specializing in Administration and Leadership from Walden University. She holds a PA Special Education Teaching Certification, Principal’s Certification from Cheyney University, and a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Temple University.
Dr. Jones’ research interests include culturally responsive pedagogy, teacher and principal training, and development.
