In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Victor L. Kane received his PhD in Social Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in September 1991 and an MS in Social Work at Columbia University in 1980. He currently serves as a Part-time Contributing Faculty, Public Policy and Administration Dissertation, in the College of Health Sciences and Public Policy at Walden University and has served in this role since August 2023. Dr. Kane has taught Business and Public Policy courses at several universities in the US and abroad and has served as department chair in business administration at the University of the West in California and as the Head of the Asia Graduate Centre at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) at RMIT Vietnam where he taught Contemporary Issues in International Management, Executive Consulting, Operations Management, and People and Organizations in the MBA, MIB and Executive MBA programs. He also currently teaches part-time online at the School of Business and Economics at National University in San Diego and at Marcus Oldham College of Agribusiness in Victoria, Australia.
Prior to these positions, Dr. Kane served as a consultant and executive trainer at the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University from 2021-2023 where he trained academics at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in digital transformation and innovation management as part of a USAID project on “Strengthening Provincial Capacity in Vietnam.”
Dr. Kane’s research expertise and publications are in the areas of cross-cultural trends in corporate social responsibility, digital transformation of private and public enterprises, and the privatization of State-Owned Enterprises, and has worked as a researcher and consultant for KPMG and Vina Capital in Vietnam.
