In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Vhic De Guzman is a distinguished healthcare professional. A double-board-certified Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, bringing a wealth of experience in acute care hospital settings and the healthcare industry. Their expertise spans Nursing Education, Critical Care, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, Leadership, and Clinical Documentation Improvement. With a robust educational foundation, Dr. De Guzman's credentials include a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a Master of Science in Nursing - AGACNP, and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Walden University. Commencing their career as a BSN faculty, their professional trajectory evolved as they gained extensive clinical experience through years of travel nursing and work across multiple nursing disciplines. Currently, they serve as an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner for the DSHS and a Hospitalist Acute Care NP for a prominent hospital system in the Pacific Northwest.
Dr. De Guzman is revisiting their passion for nursing education after a 20-year hiatus, joining the team of scholars, thought leaders, and change-makers as a contributing faculty member in the Walden University Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.
