Tracy Wright
Nursing research has been an integral component of Dr. Wright’s career as a nurse scientist. Her research interests primarily focus on women’s health, pediatric obesity, urological conditions, vulnerable populations, instrument development, psychometric analysis, and nursing education. She served as a Clinical Research Coordinator for a regional healthcare setting overseeing clinical drug and nutritional trials. Tracy has formal education and training in quantitative and qualitative nursing research methods, statistics, and instrument development. Dr. Wright has been teaching in higher education with a focus on the field of nursing since 1998. Her career in academia has included land-based teaching as well as extensive online and web-enhanced course delivery of nursing courses. Tracy’s teaching experience at various higher education institutions spans from undergraduate, masters, to doctoral courses. At the undergraduate level, Dr. Wright has taught several foundational courses (e.g., Nursing Roles, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Nursing Adaptations through the Lifespan, Psycho-Social Nursing, Technical Nursing Skills, Clinical, Practicum, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Nursing Theory, and Nursing Ethics). At the masters level, Tracy has taught courses focused on the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator, Nurse Leader, and Health Administration tracks (e.g., Nursing Theory; Health Care Delivery Systems, Policy & Finance; Healthcare Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Management; Organizational Strategy and Systems Leadership; Nursing Education Assessment, Testing, Evaluation; Foundations for Nursing Education; Curriculum Development; Teaching Methodologies; Global Public Health Issues; Intro to Research, Data Analysis, and Informatics; Advanced Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice; Clinical Nurse Specialist Practicum; Nurse Educator Practicum; Nurse Administrator/Leader Practicum; Advanced Healthcare Ethics; Thesis Seminar; Thesis; and Portfolio). At the doctoral level, Dr. Wright has taught both in PhD and DNP programs teaching a variety of courses (e.g., Theoretical Foundations for Nursing Practice; Foundations of Nursing Science; Quantitative Nursing Methods; The Nurse Scientist Clinical Scholarship; Analytic Methods for Advanced Nursing Practice; Clinical Prevention and Population Health; Exploration of Advancing Ethical and Legal Issues in Healthcare; Foundations and Essentials of Doctoral Study in Nursing; Best Practices In Nursing Specialties; and Doctor of Nursing Practice). Within doctoral and master’s in nursing programs, Tracy has also served on multiple portfolio, thesis, doctoral committees as the chair, a committee member, and University Research Reviewer. Dr. Wright’s acute-care nursing practice experience as an RN includes pediatrics, medical-surgical, neonatal intensive care, newborn nursery, women’s health, post-partum, and clinical drug research.
