In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Mahvan is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with a specialty in Family Medicine and Geriatric Pharmacology. She has 20 years of teaching expertise is didactic and clinical outpatient setting. She is contributing faculty at Walden and teaches Pharmacology in the College of Health Center. She is a tenured professor at University of Wyoming. She obtains grants and publishes regularly in peer reviewed journals. She has taught Pharmacotherapy courses in didactic and clinical teaching realms to Family Practice residents and RN/NP/PA students. Her accomplishments include development of a Pharmacotherapy/Geriatrics Curriculum, Diabetes, Pharmacotherapy and Anticoagulation Clinics. Longitudinal cross-functional experience with multiple University departments and multiple healthcare agencies has fortified her leadership and teamwork abilities. As a professor in a tenure track position, curricular development, scientific analysis/research protocols and scholarly activity has always been at the forefront of her career. Because of her teaching, service and scholarship, she was awarded the College and Health Center Educator award with Excellence in Teaching in 2017. She recently completed a fellowship on online teaching and obtained her MBA.
