In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Tonya Molnar received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University in August 2023. Dr. Molnar is a contributing faculty member for the College of Social and Behavioral Health in the School of Counseling at Walden University, starting in January 2024. Dr. Molnar has taught Psychopathology, Practicum, Internship, and Residency courses for master’s learners at other learning institutions. Professionally, Dr. Molnar is a board-certified licensed clinical mental health counselor in Washington State since 2019. Dr. Molnar previously worked in community mental health, serving individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illness. Currently, Dr. Molnar owns and operates a private practice specializing in trauma, insomnia, and chronic pain and illness. Dr. Molnar is also an active board member for a local organization providing vocational, residential, and day-to-day services for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Research interests include wellness and the professional quality of life of counselors and counseling students.
