In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Tomeka Toney’s field of interest is nursing educational leadership. She has served in educational leadership roles since 2011. Dr. Toney currently serves as the Perioperative Nurse Educator at a federal medical center in Little Rock, AR. She has many years of faculty experience teaching courses such as pathophysiology, health promotion, healthcare leadership, and health assessment in both online and face to face learning environments. At Walden University, she serves as contributing faculty in the School of Nursing.
Dr. Toney’s current research interests focuses on innovative training methods and training nurse leaders. She has presented her research at national and local conferences. She has completed book reviews that were published in an online national journal. She has also received many leadership awards.
