In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Summer D. Parrott received her PhD in Health Education and Promotion at Walden University in February of 2021. She currently serves as a Dissertation Committee Member and faculty member for the Health Education and Promotion Department at Walden University. She has served in this role since April 2021. Dr. Parrott began as a Teaching Assistant at Walden University in the Health Sciences Department in 2018 until she graduated in 2021. Dr. Parrott is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Dr. Parrott has also worked in the areas of both private and public health and parent education through Six Dimensional Wellness and Early Headstart. Her areas of professional expertise include holistic wellness, psychosocial support, the effects of stress on health, childhood ACEs, neuroplasticity, and prenatal stress. In additional to running two small businesses, Dr. Parrott is very active in her community, serving in executive roles on many local boards.
