In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Matarelli, PhD RN FABC is Senior Vice President of Medpoint Asia | Medpoint Health Partners, serving in the capacity of Acting CEO additional to his permanent roles of the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer for Guangzhou R&F Hospital, Guangzhou China. Dr. Matarelli has worked for Walden University since 2012 as Contributing Faculty in the School of Public Policy and Administration.
Formerly, Dr. Matarelli worked as a Sr. Clinical Executive for Vocera Communications - Middle East & United Kingdom and as Field Director and Nurse Surveyor for Joint Commission International. Prior to joining Joint Commission, Dr. Matarelli worked for Johns Hopkins Medicine International in the role of Chief Operating Officer/Chief Clinical Officer for a tertiary teaching hospital in United Arab Emirates. A graduate of the Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives and a Fellow of the Healthcare Advisory Board, Dr. Matarelli is a highly experienced national and international speaker in the United States, Middle East, and Asia on topics of nursing care, hospital operations, patient safety, research, and “theory-into-practice” for healthcare providers, community organizations, and academic settings. His 38+ years of healthcare experience has spanned bedside nursing, clinical and executive operations, academia, research, and industry.
