Steven is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah. He lives about 20 minutes from Zion National Park as a point of reference. Steven grew up in Las Vegas and moved to Southern Utah to take an outdoor guiding job almost 20 years ago. He still works in the outdoors and now run an Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare program that works with at-risk adolescents and adults in recovery. It is fun but challenging work environment, but that is sort of the point of outdoor adventures.

Prior to being the Director of an Outdoor Youth Program, he was the Research Director for 5 behavioral health programs and oversaw outcomes studies and program evaluations for those residential treatment programs. Additionally, he has worked as a Mental Health Counselor in community mental health, outpatient, residential treatment, and outdoor behavioral healthcare.

In addition to his clinical work and research, Steven have been teaching counseling and human service courses since 2014. Steven has earned a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University.
