Stephen Brown
Stephen Brown has worked in higher education for the past 10 years. He has extensive experience in the areas of foster care and adoptions. His professional work experiences include program directorship of a Los Angeles area foster family agency, program coordination of the Family Preservation with the Pomona Unified School, and child welfare practice with the Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties Department of Children’s Services and residential treatment facilities. In addition, he acts a consultant/ trainer for a number of agencies throughout Los Angeles area, and the Inland Empire. Dr. Brown has served as a presenter/panelist at several conferences through research he conducted dealing with the issue of African American male achievement, but more specifically, student athletes and the area of retention. As a result, he has worked directly with African American and Latino males in the greater Los Angeles area through his non-profit organization called the Brother’s Incorporated where he, along with colleagues, work with these young men to assist them in everything from goal setting and closing the achievement gap, to the importance of having a Plan B.
