In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Sherrie Roberson has 25 years of experience as a nurse and 15 years as a nurse educator. Dr. Roberson is a core/full-time faculty member at Walden University in the RN-BSN program. Her nursing career began in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Grambling State University. After mentoring new nurses, Dr. Roberson found an interest in nursing education. Dr. Roberson continued her academic journey by completing a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Phoenix and a Doctor of Nursing Science at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans. Her clinical specialty is telemetry (cardiology) and medical-surgical, and her education specialty is telemetry, medical-surgical, and mental health. Her passion is collaborating with nursing colleagues and other professional medical members in research to provide evidence-based findings on healthy lifestyles for diverse populations. Dr. Roberson's research is on women's preventive health in cardiology. Another passion is to provide unique experiences for nursing students, such as virtual simulation, cinema learning, avatars, classroom games, etc., and disseminate the outcome through presentations. She is always eager to learn about educational technology advancements for nursing students.
