In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Sharon Cuba Rodriguez is a school social worker for an urban school district in Northern New Jersey. Dr. Rodriguez has a double master’s degree: a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University (NJ) and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Ashworth University (GA). She obtained her Ph.D. on November 2017 from Walden University.
Dr. Cuba Rodriguez has more than 15 years of experience working with HIV/AIDS prevention and education, hospital discharge planning, and working with students with disabilities. She assisted in the disaster and trauma response in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Dr. Cuba Rodriguez’s interests include advocacy, national and international women’s rights, HIV/AIDS, intimate partner violence, mental health and wellness, cultural competence and cultural humility, trauma including ACEs, and self-care.
