Shakiera Causey

Shakiera Causey received her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina Greensboro in May 2019. Dr. Causey joined Walden University in February 2022 as a contributing part-time faculty member in the B.S. in Health Studies program. Professionally, Dr. Causey is a research scientist and health and racial equity subject matter expert. She has taught Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychological Statistics, General Introductory Psychology and several Family and Human Science courses at other colleges and universities. Shakiera also completed a 2 year postdoctoral fellowship appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at Duke School of Medicine in 2021. Her research interests and prior work examines how social determinants of health impact healthcare access, maternal/child health, adolescent mental health, health inequity, and health policy.
