Sandra Bever

Dr. Bever is an applied anthropologist with expertise in qualitative methodologies, program design and evaluation, grant writing, household economy, economic development, migrant populations, community health, and gender disparities.
Her current areas of focus include diversity in higher education, online faculty workload, and the effects of COVID-19 on working parents.
Dr. Bever has worked in higher education since 1999. She is a Walden University Social Change Fellow. She is also the recipient of the Commitment to Social Change Award, the Faculty Excellence Award, and the Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence at Walden University. Dr. Bever was lead for the 2018 Walden Climate Survey Project, to date the only climate survey ever conducted at Walden. She currently serves on the Walden Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council as well as the Doctoral Education Advisory Council.
In the private sector, she has worked as a senior ethnographer and director of multicultural research at national consulting and market research firms. Dr. Bever has also been an educational consultant for school districts, universities, private foundations, and Native American tribes throughout California. Her earlier work engaging undergraduate students in research projects in applied anthropology at Santa Clara University earned her a lifetime appointment as Fellow in the Society for Applied Anthropology.
