Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

My name is Ron Carlisle; please feel free to call me Dr. C. I will be your instructor.
Let me begin by sharing my enthusiasm with you for the steps you have taken to begin your academic career. I can recall when I first decided to begin and continue my learning experiences. I soon realized, once I got past my fears and anxieties, that learning allowed me to grow, and growing with knowledge is a lifelong commitment.
I have taken time to develop a skill set that includes the design of websites, portals, online assessments, and surveys for published communications meant to reach global audiences. Course design for web-based and text-based deliverables is my passion; most importantly the learning process claims a sizable place in my heart and is prioritized through your success.
My academic credentials include a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education, an M.Ed in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, and two post-master certifications in educational administration- Principal and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. I am also a graduate of an Ed.D (Doctor of Education) focusing on Special Education at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking, reading, taking vacations/fishing in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, as well as spending quality time with family, friends, and colleagues. Above all, I love teaching both adults and children!
I look forward to our time together, as we all learn from one another. Here we grow!
