In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Rocio Terry is an experienced professor, change agent, and leader who focuses on issues surrounding social justice, access to resources, social equity, and building social capital, while she also creates social change by having been in management for more than thirty years with several innovative and highly impactful companies. She has worked with diverse populations, such as high school and college students, older adults, veterans, LGBTQ+, low income, active duty military, refugees, etc., in various settings, such as hospice, nursing facilities, federally qualified health centers, universities, community colleges, non-profit agencies, and military bases. Dr. Terry has held key operational and tactical leadership and management roles with local and national non-profit organizations, helping change the life trajectory of thousands of people across the country.
Dr. Terry is a bilingual, tenured professional who graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with Doctor of Social Work (DSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees, and she graduated from University of Redlands with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). She has dedicated her career to serving others, the application of research, and supporting vulnerable populations, and she has taught Social Work, Policy, Social Welfare, Social Innovation, Research, Leadership, and Business courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Through her innovative work and ideas, Dr. Terry aims to affect large-scale social issues via design thinking and social innovation so that we may begin to eradicate the persistent problems and social norms plaguing society.
