I have been a nurse for the past 33 years. My clinical specialty is psychiatric mental-health nursing with a focus in forensics and I have served as both a clinician and an educator. I worked for the State of Louisiana for many years. After 9/11/01, I was called up for active duty and served as a commissioned officer in the U. S. Public Health Corps. I am currently employed by the Veteran Health Administration as the program director for the nurse residency program and the VA scholarship program. . I received my BSN from the University of South Alabama and my MSN and PhD from the University of Phoenix. I am also board-certified by ANCC as psychiatric mental-health nurse and a nursing professional development specialist.
