In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Peter B. Anderson, Ph.D., has been a full-time faculty member in the Colleges of Health Sciences and Social and Behavioral Sciences at Walden University since the spring of 2007 and is now a Master Contributing Faculty member. He was a Full Professor in the Department of Human Performance and Health Promotion and a faculty member in Women’s Studies at the University of New Orleans prior to Katrina. He received his Ph.D. from New York University in Health with a specialization in Human Sexuality and has studied and taught sexuality in Kenya, Sweden, Denmark, Mexico, Costa Rica, Russia and the Czech Republic. He has published two edited books, ten book chapters, and over 75 professional articles. He is past president and past executive director of the Foundation for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (FSSS), a past Board Member for the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS), past-president for the Mid-continent Region of SSSS, the Senior Editor for the Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality, and a regular reviewer for several other professional journals. His current research interests include: AIDS, Sexual Aggression, the impact of Alcohol Consumption on Sexual Risk Behavior, Gender, and the intersections of Race, Gender, and Class. At a recent SSSS annual meeting Dr. Anderson was awarded the title of Fellow in the Society for his research and other contributions that have advanced the field of sexual science.
