In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Paula’s professional background includes over 30 years in the healthcare industry in progressive management positions up to and including a COO of a large integrated delivery system in Northern Illinois. Her areas of expertise include: Physician Practice Management, Ambulatory Care Services, Procedural Area Management and Managed Care. In recent years Paula transitioned into Higher education she has also attained progressive management roles that include Chair, Dean, and Director in a for-profit organization. Her Director of New Business Development position brought her roles of educator and executive to a culminating point in her career. Paula now serves as the Chair of South University’s Online Healthcare Management Department, where she enjoys the role of manager, leader, and educator every day.
Paula’s education includes a Bachelors degree in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University, a Master’s degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella University.
