Dr. Osaro Airen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Disaster Support Counselor. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California, a Master's in Business Administration from Wayne State College, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. He has served in Higher Education in a variety of roles, which include College Administrator and Faculty. He currently serves as a Core Faculty member in MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.

Dr. Airen has maintained an active research agenda. He co-founded two academic journals (peer-reviewed): the Journal of Multicultural Affairs and the Journal of Faith, Education, and Community, which publish original, in-depth, scholarly material. In addition, his current research agenda focuses on the connection between macroaggression and mental health, cultural competence within the mental health and higher education fields, and the race-based wage gap.
