Dr. Nicole Hamilton is a Senior Contributing and a Senior Lead Faculty member in the Human Services Ph.D. program. She holds a Ph.D. in General Psychology specializing in Child and Adolescent Development from Capella University. She also holds a Master's of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the Our Lady of the Lake University and a Master’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Studies with a specialization in Administration, Management, and Leadership from Walden University. She has taught both undergraduate and graduate psychology and human services courses since 2004 and has been on the faculty at Walden University since 2015. She has served on numerous student dissertation committees.
Dr. Hamilton is trained and certified in several learning platforms and enjoys integrating this knowledge into her teaching. Her primary areas of research are; divorce, suicide prevention, addiction, and sibling relationships. She has published articles and presented research on adolescents and trauma, cultural diversity and obesity, parenting and sibling relationships, parental rearing and siblings, addiction and academic achievement. She has worked as a counselor, mental health assessor, and play therapist with children and adolescents. Dr. Hamilton is a current member of the APA and in Division 1 of General Psychology and has served on the board as an Early Career Psychologist (ECP) developing a Mentoring Program.
