Dr. Cavanagh currently serves as the MSW Field Director. Prior to this position change, she has been a Core faculty member for Walden University's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2019 after serving as Contributing Faculty since 2017. Dr. Cavanagh previous experience include ten years experience at a Research 1 Institution. During that time, she was part of the initial accreditation team in 2009 and the 2016 reaffirmation team for the BSW program, where she served the major contributor to the development of the BSW Field Program.
Dr. Cavanagh earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and a Master’s Degree in Social work. She is dually licensed as a LISW-AP/CP and is authorized to supervise LMSW's in the pursuit of the advanced licensure. In keeping with her "life-long learning" values- she earned her MBA in 2022.
Dr. Cavanagh has over 20 years clinical practice experience, where she managed structured outpatient programs for the adult and geriatric populations. In this role, she developed and implemented an award-winning Geriatric Best Practice Program within a 4-state region.
