Mihaela Fletcher
Dr. Fletcher graduated with the following degrees: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from East Carolina University (ECU), Post-Master’s Certificate/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, Post-Master’s Certificate/Nursing Education from ECU, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)/Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Duke University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Grambling State University in Louisiana, Master of Science in Political Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Romania.
Dr. Fletcher’s primary area of subject matter expertise is combined addiction medicine and general psychiatry. Dr. Fletcher has been working as a registered nurse (RN), FNP (Certified), and PMHNP (Board-Certified) in the field of behavioral medicine, addiction medicine, internal medicine, and general psychiatry since 2007. Dr. Fletcher is currently working at the North Carolina (NC) Department of Health and Human Services at a psychiatric and behavioral NC state-operated hospital. Dr. Fletcher has worked at outpatient psychiatric/internal medicine clinics, at a NC State Health Department, and at a major NC hospital. Dr. Fletcher’s primary area of research interest is advancing the PMPNPs role and practice. Dr. Fletcher is member of the American Nurses Association and American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
At Walden University, Dr. Fletcher is contributing faculty in the MSN NP Program, Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP Program. Dr. Fletcher currently teaches NRNP 6670 and PRAC 6670 PMHNP Role II: Adult and Older Adults. Dr. Fletcher has taught NURS 6640 Psychotherapy with Individuals, NURS 6650 Psychotherapy with Groups and Families, NURS 6660 PMHNP Role I: Child and Adolescent. Dr. Fletcher has been a subject matter expert for NRNP 6675 PMHNP Care Across the Lifespan II.
In addition to teaching at Walden University in the PMHNP MSN program since April 2017, Dr. Fletcher is currently teaching (as Clinical Associate Professor) at ECU in the PMHNP MSN/Post-Master’s Certificate program. Dr. Fletcher taught at Aspen University in the MSN program. Dr. Fletcher has been a guest speaker at UNC at Chapel Hill PMHNP program and at NC Eastern Area Health Education Center (AHEC). Dr. Fletcher has expertise in precepting PMHNP and FNP students. Dr. Fletcher is affiliate assistant professor ECU, Brody School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, precepting medical students during their clinical rotation. Dr. Fletcher has received the ECU’s 2020 honor of the Preceptor of the Year in Psychiatric Mental Health.
