In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Fletcher has been faculty in the MSN PMHNP Program at Walden University since April 2017. Dr. Fletcher currently teaches PRAC 6675-PMHNP Across Lifespan II Practicum and NRNP 6675: PMHNP Care Across the Lifespan II. Dr. Fletcher has taught Psychotherapy with Individuals, Psychotherapy with Groups and Families, PMHNP Role I: Child and Adolescent. Dr. Fletcher has been a subject matter expert for NRNP 6675 PMHNP Care Across the Lifespan II.
Dr. Fletcher has the following certifications: FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, CNE, and CARN-NP. Dr. Fletcher works at a North Carolina-state operated psychiatric and behavioral hospital. Dr. Fletcher’s primary area of research interest is advancing and disseminating addiction science, addiction nursing practice, and addiction nursing education. Dr. Fletcher is a Fellow of the International Academy of Addictions Nursing (FIAAN) and is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA).
In addition to teaching at Walden University in the PMHNP program, Dr. Fletcher is an affiliate (honorary) associate professor at ECU, Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Fletcher was Clinical Associate Professor at ECU PMHNP MSN/Post-Master’s Certificate program between August 2017 to December 2023 where she helped build the PMHNP program and redesigned most courses in the program. Dr. Fletcher has been guest speaker at UNC at Chapel Hill PMHNP program, NC Eastern Area Health Education Center (AHEC), and NC Governor's Institute. Dr. Fletcher has expertise in precepting PMHNP students, FNP students, physician assistant students, and medical students.
