In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Michelle Y. Pinckney received a Master of Science in Nursing-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Graduate Certificate (post-MSN) in December 2017 from the University of Cincinnati. She received a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership from Capella University in June 2015. In November 2012, she received a Master of Science in Nursing-Nursing Administration (post-MSN) from Kaplan University. In May 2009, she received a Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from South University.
She serves as an Associate Professor at Walden University, teaching in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. Dr. Pinckney began as a Contributing (part-time) Faculty member at Walden University's School of Nursing in November 2020.
She is licensed as a PMHNP in SC, NV, MN, CA, and NV. Dr. Pinckney also runs a virtual PMHNP practice where she provides services via telehealth to those suffering from mental illness.
