Mike Klemp-North
Mike is the Vice President of Administration and Facilities for Hsu's Ginseng Enterprise previous to that he directed a conference center and was the co-executive director focusing on regulations and compliance. Mike has been in higher education since 2004 including teaching sociology at Northcentral Technical College and teaching criminal justice at Ferris State University in Michigan as a tenure track faculty member. In addition to teaching in Michigan he received my PhD in Sociology from Western Michigan University. His areas of concentration were criminology and race and ethnic relations. In addition he has a Masters from UW-Platteville in Criminal Justice; and a Bachelors degree from UW-Madison in Sociology, Social Welfare, and a certificate in Criminal Justice.
His career has included working with kids who had severe emotional disabilities and were involved in the juvenile justice system. A State Probation and Parole agent with a high risk case load supervising individuals who were involved in gangs, significant drug dealing, repeat offenders, violent histories, or other instances that more in-depth supervision would be appropriate.
Currently academic focuses are working with WIPPS (Wisconsin Institute of Public Policy and Service) on community level projects. The most recent projects have been part of are the Wausau Police Department Task Force; as well as the Lincoln and Marathon County Diversity Study. In addition focusing on the intersection between corporations and governmental regulation- most recently presenting at the North Central Region Center for FSMA (FDA) Annual Meeting on the overregulation of American grown ginseng. This intersection includes not only the United States but also internationally including China, Japan and Canada.
