Mary Robinson
Dr. Robinson's educational background includes a Bachelors in History and Mathematics, a Masters in Education in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Education in Mathematics, from the University of New Mexico. She taught mathematics and education courses at New Mexico State University-Grants Branch and the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus for 22 years, and began designing and teaching online courses in 1989. She served as the chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at UNM-Valencia Campus, teaching all levels of mathematics from developmental through calculus and including mathematics for teachers courses until her retirement from UNM in July, 2008. She currently holds the status of Professor Emeritus at the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Robinson is a member of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges having served from 2001-2007 as Vice-President for the Southwest Region (AZ, NM, OK, TX) . She has been married to her husband, Bruce, for 53 years. They have two children, a son 44 and a daughter 49. They also have two grandsons and one granddaughter. Her favorite things to do are spending time with her grandchildren, teaching mathematics and working to improve mathematics education for children and adults alike. When she is not doing these things, she enjoys reading a good book, watching tear-jerker romantic movies and playing Sudoku. She loves Harry Potter books and movies and has visited the Harry Potter Worlds at Universal Studios in California and Florida . She is also an avid Disney fan; she and her daughter enjoy making Disney memories at the theme parks and on cruises.
