Mary Kropiewnicki
Dr. Mary Kropiewnicki’s formal training is in teacher development and educational leadership where she has served in various roles for her 30+ year career. Dr. Kropiewnicki served as a teacher, reading specialist, and elementary and middle school principal in K-12 public and private schools in Pennsylvania and South Carolina. She also served as a dean, assistant dean, and department chair in private and state institutions of higher education in Pennsylvania and Georgia. In these roles, Dr. Kropiewnicki taught courses related to undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation and professional development and educational leadership at the masters and doctoral levels. Dr. Kropiewnicki served on numerous doctoral dissertation committees and also served on the Institutional Board at these institutions. At Walden University, she will mentor doctoral students in the completion of the prospectus and dissertation.
Dr. Kropiewnicki’s current research interests focus primarily on K-12 educational leadership with a focus on ethics and policy; curriculum, instruction, and assessment with a focus on literacy education; and issues of access and equity in education. She has presented at numerous conferences including the American Educational Research Association and the Consortium for the Study of Leadership and Ethics in Education. She received over 4.9 million dollars in post-secondary grant awards for the development of highly qualified teachers in mathematics, science, social studies, and English/language arts at the middle level.
