Marnie Carroll is a sociologist and writer with experience in areas such as technology, communications, and inter-cultural interactions. She obtained her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2002, her M.A. in sociology from New York University in 1997, and her B.A. in English and Applied Social Studies from the University of North Texas. She has taught in universities in the U.S, Switzerland, and Ireland, and recently spent five years living in Europe, which was a life-changing experience. Her academic publishing and interests have been in the areas of criminology, communication, culture, gender, and technology. Aside from the academics, she enjoys movies, hiking, SCUBA, cooking.
