Mark Sullivan
After years of being a pop culture collector geek, Mark started studying its role in his life and those of others. He earned a BA in English, an MA in American Studies, with a focus on popular culture, and a PhD in Public Communication, with a focus on media studies, all from the University of Maryland, College Park. His dissertation was titled: Dangerous Music: The Eternal Refrain.
Eventually, he switched sides of the desk and began to teach about popular culture as well. He has been teaching media studies for two decades and a half at University level, including over a decade at Walden University.
Mark has also taught classes on media and popular music for the Smithsonian Institution and other adult learning programs. He has published and presented papers. He also maintains a blog where he posts on issues of media and popular culture.
